I have freelanced as a proofreader and copyeditor since 1989. Clients include researchers at institutions of higher education around the world: in the US and Canada, Europe, and China. First languages of my clients include Spanish, Italian, Turkish, and Chinese.
I have also provided editorial services to high-tech consultancies, desktop publishers, online publishers, social issue research organizations, and individual authors. The subjects of these clients' texts have been varied, including memoir, poetry. conflict resolution, religion and peace, environmental justice, computer science, the Great Recession, society and technology, and child psychology.
In addition to my undergraduate major in English with a concentration in linguistics at the University of Massachusetts at Boston, I hold a certificate in professional copyediting from Emerson College. I am also a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and ACES: The Society for Editing.
Since 1975, my news articles have been published in the World Tribune, Living Buddhism, and New Moon. My poetry has appeared in such print and online publications as the MIT Faculty Newsletter, Poetry Repair Shop, BiWomen, Wavelength, and 3rd Muse Poetry Journal. From 2001 to 2006, together with another Boston writer, I published Facets, an online literary magazine which drew readers from over seventy countries and showcased the work of such emerging talents as the best-selling author of Wild, Cheryl Strayed.
