GETTING STARTED: RATES AND PAYMENT

To hire me as an editor, please send me a copy of your text with your editorial requirements and time constraints. 

Once I receive your text, I can estimate the time it will take me to proofread or copyedit it and propose a flat rate. The email in which you and I agree on the price and turnaround time constitutes the agreement on terms. For book manuscripts, a letter agreement specifying the scope of the work, the rate, and the turnaround time may be necessary. 

Editorial jobs that involve critical commentary and revision inevitably take more time and are harder to estimate. Such jobs are typically charged on an hourly basis.

Microsoft Word: Edited using Word’s Track Changes and Comment functions. 

PDF: Document marked up by hand and returned as a PDF.  

Proofreading

$35/hour (6-8 pages/hour)

Light copyediting

$40/hour (6-8 pages/hour)

Medium copyediting

$45/hour (6-8 pages/hour)

Heavy or substantive copyediting

$50/hour (2-8 pages/hour)

 Invoices are submitted through PayPal or your organization’s payment system.
